After every edition of ICoN, we offer our contributors the possibility to publish either in a refereed or a non-refereed context.

INSTRUCTIONS

(Please, make sure to read carefully the whole text – we shall not take responsibility for incomplete submissions):

VERY IMPORTANT:
Authors are in charge of proof-reading and language-editing with a native English speaker.
Before submitting an article, the author should make sure that it is:
1) formatted according to the respective style sheet
2) carefully proof-read (reducing typos and omissions to a reasonable minimum)
3) language-edited by a native English speaker

We only intervene if there are minor corrections in points 1 and 2. In all other cases (major corrections in 1 and 2, or any correction in 3), we have to reject the submission.

THE CHOICES:
— For non-refereed publication we assemble a “selected proceedings” volume.
— For refereed publication authors can choose between two options:
– The Springer series in Numanities: every year a volume called “Readings in Numanities”, a wide collection that comprises different contents, is assembled.

Authors should be prepared that choosing the refereed option may also imply that your article is required significant changes, or is even ultimately rejected.

– If the article is not correctly formatted/proof-read/language-edited the author will have max. 1 month to fix it.
– Submission guidelines can be found here: https://www.springer.com/gp/authors-editors/book-authors-editors/book-manuscript-guidelines. In particular, pay attention to the following two documents: http://resource-cms.springer.com/springer-cms/rest/v1/content/990/data/Manuscript+guidelines+for+English+books, and http://resource-cms.springer.com/springer-cms/rest/v1/content/3322/data/Key+style+points.
As the guidelines refer to monograph manuscripts, please, consider your article as a “chapter” of a book.

DANGERS OF RUDE REFEREEING
ISI is firmly committed to combine serious refereeing with courtesy and politeness. There is an unpleasant habit, among anonymous referees, to take too many liberties in criticizing a paper, often employing a rude and totally unnecessary language. To avoid this risk, ISI editors act as mediators between authors and referees: when needed, they will send the author a rewritten version of the reviews, which only emphasizes, politely and neutrally, the requested changes. Also, unmotivated or too subjective criticism (of the likes of “this is wrong!” without explanation) will not be accepted from the reviewers.
